The Abstracted Landscape with Jay Isaac 🌳🔽

July 9 @ 9:00 am July 12 @ 4:30 pm

This 4-day acrylic painting and drawing workshop will focus on how an observed landscape can be abstracted through colour and form. Short field trips will guide participants to observe the landscape, make preliminary sketches in situ, and then develop paintings in the studio. This course is recommended for participants with experience working in acrylics or watercolours at an intermediate level or more. Upon registration, participants will receive a list of course materials. Note: This is a scent-free workshop.

A prolific artist, curator, and writer, Jay Isaac will share examples of his work, and the work of contemporary and modern artists to illustrate the use of landscape and its components as starting points for abstraction.

April 14 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Enjoy a four-course meal created by Chef Michelle Hooton at Italian by Night, inspired by four beloved Saint John artists’ paintings brought to the restaurant from the Beaverbrook Art Gallery!

This evening event will consist of a talk by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Manager of Collections and Exhibitions, John Leroux, who will give us insight into the selected artworks. Chef Michelle will also tell us how each painting inspired her to create her four delicious courses.

This is an excellent opportunity to engage with artworks from the Beaverbrook and learn more about the history of Saint John as well as the four artists who have been chosen for this exciting evening. The artworks chosen for inspiration for this meal were created by the following artists:
