Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre, in St Andrews, NB is calling for submissions from professional artists to undertake a two-week residency at the Centre to be completed before the end of April 2024.
The 2023-24 Artist in Residence Program consists of two residencies for two weeks each in one of four Sunbury Shores’ studios – print studio, ceramics studio, metal studio, or painting/drawing studio. The goal of the residency is to provide a supportive environment where artists can pursue specific projects relating to their creative work.
The artists in residence will also contribute to the promotion and understanding of the arts by means of the artists’ contact with
the community, Sunbury Shores members, and visitors.
Sunbury Shores was established nearly 60 years ago as an arts and nature centre; this collaboration between the environment and the arts continues to inform the vision for the centre. As part of the residency, artists will have the opportunity to engage with Sunbury Shores members and the public through a short talk, presentation, or artistic engagement while
undertaking their residency.
The selected artists (2) will receive a stipend of $2,500 each for the two-week residency (for accommodation, meals, transportation, and materials).
This is a competitive application process with review of applications by a jury of Sunbury Shores staff, community members and professional artists. The 2023-24 Artist in Residence program at Sunbury Shores is funded through the generosity of the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation.
