Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen proposes two public activities on Wednesday, September 29 2021, as part of the Give Me Shelter exhibition presenting the works of 13 emerging artists of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

An artist-talk by Mimi Stockalnd will be presented (in French) in the Salle Neil-Michaud, room 001-B of the Fine Arts Building (Beaux-arts) on the Université de Moncton campus. Mimi Stockland is a St. John’s-based visual artist whose work spans textiles, sculpture, printmaking and installation. She obtained a BFA from Concordia University in 2009and graduated from the Centre des Textiles Contemporains de Montréal (CTCM) in 2015, after which she established a home and studio practice in Newfoundland. Her work ranges through topics like food, internet humour, cartoons, fashion, camping, tourism, textiles, and contemporary life with a surrealist and absurdist eye.
 
 
RECEPTION: Wednesday, September 29, 5–7 PM, at Galerie d’art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen
A reception celebrating the exhibition will be held as of 5 PM, with Pan Wendt, exhibition curator, and Mimi Stockland, artist, in attendance. The exhibition presents work that “can inform us as we face an uncertain reality that demands imaginative and constructive energy” and will run until October 3, 2021. Give Me Shelter is organised and circulated by the Confederation Centre Art Gallery with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and RBC. For more information: https://www.umoncton.ca/umcm-ga/chercherrefuge
