FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FREDERICTON PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES FULL LINEUP FOR 2021-22 SPOTLIGHT SERIES
9 September 2021, Fredericton, NB – After missing a full season due to public health measures brought on by the global pandemic, the Fredericton Playhouse’s Spotlight Series returns with a full lineup for its 2021-22 season. The organization’s flagship program will feature 28 performances in theatre, circus, comedy, dance, and music from across Canada and around the world.
“We are thrilled to be back to providing a full Spotlight Series this year,” exclaims Tim Yerxa, Executive Director. “And we couldn’t be more excited to welcome audiences back for what promises to be an exceptional season of live performance.”
The season features several shows rescheduled from the 2019-20 season including fan-favourite Classic Albums Live, award-winning Indigenous dance company Red Sky Performance, and Canadian comedian Mike Delamont with God is a Scottish Drag Queen 2: The Second Coming.
Rounding out the Spotlight Series this season is a diverse collection of Canadian and international touring artists. Dance-lovers can look forward to four offerings spanning contemporary dance, urban-inspired, and classical ballet; meanwhile fans of both local and international music have over a dozen concerts on offer.
After the last year and a half, Fredericton audiences can certainly use some comedy as well. The series features five knee-slapping comedy shows sure to tickle the funny bone, including the well-known CBC comedy showdown, The Debaters Live.
The Spotlight Series wouldn’t be complete without a selection of holiday performances, and music fans won’t be disappointed by New Brunswick darlings Tomato/Tomato, and Canadian powerhouse Chantal Kreviazuk.
After what seems like an eternity, staff and performers at the Playhouse are ready to welcome a full audience. “We’ve lined up a number of remarkable performances this year and can’t wait to see audiences back in person,” says Yerxa. “There’s something for everyone in this series, no matter your taste or budget.”
In addition to a full Spotlight Series, the Fredericton Playhouse has four scheduled performances as part of the Kidstage Series, as well as a number of shows offering “Pay What You Will” ticket pricing.
Details for all Spotlight and Kidstage Series shows are available now at theplayhouse.ca; tickets are available now to Spotlight Members, and to the public on October 1.
