Working independently can mean going without the health benefits that often come with traditional employment, the Arts & Entertainment Plan administered by AFBS, gives eligible artists and other creative professionals access to health insurance designed with the realities of freelance and self-employed work in mind.

• Guaranteed-issue health insurance for eligible individuals
• Benefits (Extended health care, dental, prescription drug, travel emergency medical, life insurance etc.) designed to help manage everyday and unexpected healthcare costs
• Optional dental coverage, offering greater flexibility for individuals who may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan
• Coverage for eligible members across Canada
• Direct enrollment, administration and ongoing member service through AFBS

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the plan’s enrollment requirements, residing in Canada at the time of application, be an individual in the arts community, and have valid provincial or territorial health coverage.
