The Sublime Mastery of Still Life by Joseph Plaskett and Christmas Choice

Joseph Plaskett is a renowned, honoured Canadian painter whose work will be featured at Gallery 78 beginning December 1st. Plaskett’s work has been widely collected by individuals, corporations, and major public galleries, including the National Gallery of Canada. His images are eternal in their simplicity, timeless in their subject, and universal in their concerns. Each work expresses a warm humanity, and reveals the artist’s mastery of light, form, and colour. This collection of never before seen still life pastels from his Estate offers us an opportunity to slow down – be still – to wonder about the, seemingly, simplest of things in life.
Simultaneously, Gallery 78’s annual “Christmas Choice” exhibition includes a plethora of small treasures, from paintings to pastel and pencil drawings, holiday inspired porcelain, ceramics, jewellery, sculpture and a wide variety of original multiple prints. The selection is varied to suit all tastes and budgets.
