Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens Artists Talk

January 19, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Artists Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens will give a talk on their work at the Owens Art Gallery on Tuesday 17 January at 7:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens’s work is defined by their collaborative practice that spans across multiple media, including video, performance and installation. Their work explores the material, affective and sensory dimensions of experience that cannot be fully translated into signs or systems. For several years, they have examined the rationale upon which economic actions are described and represented, and how the logic of economy has come to infiltrate the most intimate aspects of life.

They have exhibited widely both in Canada and internationally in recent years at venues such as the International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York, Esker Foundation Contemporary Art Gallery, Calgary, Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery, Montreal, the 13th Cuenca Biennial, and the 14th Istanbul Biennial.

This talk is in conjunction with their exhibition, Putting Life to Work, which is presented jointly at the Owens Art Gallery from January 20 to March 12 and at Galerie d’Art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen, l’Université de Moncton from January 27 to March 26.

Richard Ibghy & Marilou Lemmens live and work in Montreal and Durham-Sud, Quebec.
