odd sundays

November 6, 2016 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

With the winter season advancing with inevitability, odd sundays offers a respite of warmth and conviviality on late autumn Sunday afternoons. Join with us next at Corked Wine Bar, 83 Regent St., Fredericton at 2 P.M. on November 6. This is one of those odd occasions when we actually gather on two consecutive Sundays.
Our genial host, Charlotte, will open the door at 1:30, time to visit her bar, then find a seat. Make sure to get your ticket for the book draw, and give some thought to adding your name to the open mic set. It’s a great way to get feedback on your work.
Our featured readers for the day will be Sue Sinclair and Nick Thran.
Sue Sinclair is a poet whose most recent collection is Heaven’s Thieves (Brick Books 2016). She is the author of four previous collections, all of them nominated for regional and/or national awards including the Atlantic Poetry Prize (twice), the Gerald Lampert Award, the Pat Lowther Award, and the Acorn/Plantos People’s Prize. She also recently completed a PhD in philosophy on the subject of beauty.  She now lives in Fredericton, NB, where she teaches creative writing at the University of New Brunswick.
Nick Thran is the author of three collections of poems, most recently Mayor Snow. His previous collection, Earworm, won Ontario’s Trillium Book Award for Poetry in 2012. Last year he was the 2015-2016 Canadian Writer in Residence at the University of Calgary. This summer he moved to Fredericton, where he is a full-time Dad and an editor for Brick Books.
