Warm your soul with a cup of coffee, purring kitties, and a whimsical collection of short stories at Fredericton’s very own cat café, The Purrfect Cup. Amber McMillan will be reading from her new book The Running Trees in the cat lounge on Saturday, 20 November 2021, at 2:00 PM.
Books will be available for purchase and some furry friends will be available for adoption.

Who’s the author?
Amber McMillan is the author of the memoir The Woods: A Year on Protection Island and the poetry collection We Can’t Ever Do This Again. Her work has also appeared in PRISM international, Arc Poetry Magazine, and the Walrus. She lives in Fredericton.
What’s the book?
A fervently comic debut, The Running Trees leads readers into a series of conversations — through phonelines, acts in a play, and a rewound recording of a police interrogation — to reveal characters in fumbling bouts of brutality, reflection, isolation, and love.
The relationship between two siblings disintegrates after one asks the other for the pen; a professor and his former student get drinks years after a “romantic” encounter; a book club meets only to find that they have wildly different opinions about a new memoir about their town; and a long-haired feline contemplates existence and consciousness while his cohabitant grooms himself.
Why the cat café?
The Purrfect Cup was born of two simple passions: the love of top-quality coffee and the desire to rescue cats. The cafe and cat lounge aim to bring awareness to our furry little friends and to help them find their furrever homes.
