Struts Gallery is seeking submissions for L’Ambiance, our series of short-term artist projects running contemporaneous to everyone’s favourite music festival Sappyfest taking place August 1 – 3, 2025.
Artists and artist collectives are welcome to propose projects that transform different areas of Sackville or Struts Gallery facilities into memorable, creative spaces. We are interested in ongoing, ambient projects that invite festival goers to engage with and participate in the art in some capacity. We encourage projects that animate zones, create respite from the festival’s noise, and/or provide catalysts for connection and engagement. We welcome use of our extensive media arts equipment holdings in the creation and/or execution of the project. Projects that occur outdoors and offsite are encouraged!
Eligible mediums include offsite installations, sound art, relational aesthetics, screenings/projections, and portable sculpture.
- Time based projects should run for a hefty portion of the festival and should not require a dedicated audience or performance time.
- Sculptural works should be durable and not require monitoring or surveillance.
