MULTI AWARD-WINNING INDIGENOUS DUO, TWIN FLAMES, COMES TO THE PLAYHOUSE THIS MONTH

4 October 2021, Fredericton, NB – The Fredericton Playhouse is kicking off their 2021-22 Spotlight Season with the multi award-winning Canadian Indigenous duo, Twin Flames on October 13, 2021 at 7:30 pm.

Twin Flames are a husband-and-wife team made up of Jaaji (Inuk and Mohawk) from Nunavik and Chelsey June (Métis) from Ottawa. Honouring their ancestors’ history and representing their Indigenous backgrounds, Twin Flames builds bridges across cultures, continents, and styles and bring together a richness of personal history and musical experience. Their songs tell stories of courage and survival written in English, Inuktitut, and French.

Pushing the boundaries of contemporary folk, with songs that incorporate both Western and traditional instruments, the pair expertly wraps Indigenous/Inuit stories in traditional and non-traditional styles.

“I hope that when people see the word Indigenous beside the band name that they are inspired to come and learn more with us,” says Jaaji. “Talking about what Reconciliation means to us and parts of history that are not often shared and using music to communicate…that is so important.”

Tickets for Twin Flames are available at the Playhouse Box Office online, in person, or by calling 506-458-8344. For more information, visit https://www.theplayhouse.ca/event/twin-flames/.

Twin Flames is presented in partnership with Music Runs Through It. The Spotlight Series is generously supported by Fredericton Playhouse media partner CBC New Brunswick and season partners Downtown Fredericton and Crowne Plaza.
